The wine is youthful and vibrant with beautifully layered aromatics of stone fruit, baking spices, and a chalky nuance. The palate is poised with great length, where vanilla, hazelnut and cream are complimented with very fine texture and minerality. Seamless, elegant and mouth-watering.

The intention with all of our Sound of White wines is to showcase the site, with as little winemaking as required. Fruit was hand-picked and gently pressed at the winery to tank for 24 hours. Then cloudy juice was run to 500 L puncheons for a ‘wild’ ferment. The wine was left on it’s yeast lees for 11 months before blending and bottling. This strong clay presence provides an inherent richness and density to the fruit, ideal for the style of  Chardonnay that we are aiming to produce.


The 2021 vintage certainly had its nuances compared to vintages over the last decade. Early spring frosts,combined with cool wet weather during flowering had a significant impact across Marlborough, resulting in yields being lower than average across the region. Summer turned out dry and warm, and with low-yields an early harvest was upon us; starting 10 days earlier than 2020. Fruit quality was exceptional this year and the wines certainly reflect this with strong vintage expression.
