AIR NEW ZEALAND WINE AWARDS 2009
‘This award shows that bravery to stretch the boundaries can be rewarded in the shows most competitive style. The fresh flint of clashing stones, gooseberry, sweet herbs and a hint of tropical fruit on the nose. The palate is alive yet not big and rich, flavoursome but not overbearing, finishing with a long rumbly stony feel, dry and nervy. Fantastic wine!’

WINES OF THE MONTH
Winemaker Nina Stocker has created this gorgeous bright, fresh sauvignon blanc, which has a vibrant zingy taste. It’s a great late summer wine.

92 POINTS
Swiss-born winemaker Nina Stocker says: “My winemaking techniques are very non-interventionalist. I prefer the fruit to express itself. I love wines that are food-friendly, not over the top. Subtler, elegant wines are what I like to drink and make.’ She has certainly achieved her stated goal with the 2009 vintage. Light, tangy suavignon blanc for those who prefer the sleeker, crisper model. Good food wine in a bone-dry style. Gooseberry, nettle and green capsicum flavours are understated but in harmony in this poised and drinkable wine.
